Systems Programmer

Position Purpose

Responsible for coordinating the construction, maintenance, and expansion of an organizations computer system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software.
  • Develop different types of software, including computer games, business applications, operating systems, network control systems, and middleware.
  • Analyze users' needs.
  • Create manuals and detailed sets of instructions including algorithms that tell computers what to do.
  • Convert instructions into computer languages.
  • Researching and examining current systems and consulting users
  • Liaising with colleagues such as systems analysts and designers
  • Writing software and operating manuals
  • Providing support and responding to feedback
  • Testing and modifying systems to ensure that they operate reliably
  • Fault finding and fixing.


  • BS/BA degree, preferably in Computer Engineering or experience equivalent.
  • Elixir or Ruby Programming experience.
  • Embedded Linux experience.
  • Functional Programming.
  • Electronics experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Confluence.
  • Comfortable and capable of interacting with senior leaders.
  • Values innovation and flexibility, is proactive, motivated and a self-starter.
  • Ability to know when to lead and when to take direction.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 pm, with an occasional night and/or weekend.
